Media Alert
Local FOX Station to Change
Who: Sutherland Residents with Great Plains Communications Cable Services have a new, more local FOX station.
What: KIIT, a KNOP affiliated station that broadcasts from North Platte, is now the local FOX station airing in Sutherland. It replaces KFXL, which broadcasts from Lincoln. The change will affect residents with Digital or Analog Cable Services. High-Definition Cable subscribers will not be affected by the switch and will continue to receive KFXL as their local FOX station.
The change will not affect primetime programming but may affect syndicated daytime shows. Residents with I-guide technology have received updated programming.
Why: The change is a result of KNOP choosing to exercise its “right of exclusivity.” As Sutherland is considered to be part of the station’s broadcast area as determined by FOX broadcasting, it has the right to be the local FOX station. Per federal regulations, cable companies must abide by exclusive agreements created between broadcasters and local affiliates.
When: The change occurred on Wednesday, February 08, 2012. There will be no change in the channel that FOX appears on.
